GCC States Unveil Unified Tourist Visa and Traffic Violation System

Interior ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states convened for their 40th meeting in Muscat, Oman, where they unanimously approved the rollout of a unified Gulf tourist visa. Additionally, they greenlit the implementation of an electronic system to monitor traffic violations.

Jasem Albudaiwi, the secretary-general of the GCC, hailed the unified tourist visa initiative as a testament to the enhanced cooperation among the Gulf states. This scheme, set to be implemented within a specified timeframe, reflects the region’s commitment to streamlining travel procedures and boosting tourism.

Furthermore, the ministers tasked the development of a comprehensive strategy to combat drug trafficking and reviewed ongoing security awareness campaigns. Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of maintaining national security levels and thwarting any threats that could hinder the region’s progress.

Highlighting the menace of illegal drugs in GCC communities, Albudaiwi called for unified efforts to address the issue comprehensively, encompassing prevention, control, and treatment strategies. He commended the national campaigns launched across the region to tackle drug abuse and urged continued collaboration to safeguard the youth of GCC nations.
