The ECB Adds Revolut to Its Monitoring List

We often discuss the challenges facing Revolut. The fintech with Russian roots was founded in 2015, and by October 2023, it had over 35 million customers in 37 countries. Naturally, such rapid growth could not escape regulatory attention.

In December, the European Central Bank decided to include Revolut in its supervisory list. Now, two Lithuanian companies – Revolut Holdings Europe UAB and Revolut Bank UAB – are subject to monitoring. The reason is the outcome of the bank’s annual significance assessment by the ECB.

However, the introduction of supervisory measures does not imply that Revolut faces any financial or regulatory difficulties. It simply indicates that the bank is “mature” enough for direct oversight by the ECB. The same list includes Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, and other major banks.
