Bittrex Global Announces Closure of Operations
Bittrex Global, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced its intention to cease operations, according to CoinDesk, citing the company’s official statement.
According to the information, trading on the platform will be halted on December 4 of this year. The company advises its clients to complete all necessary transactions by this date, after which only withdrawals from the exchange will be available. The reasons for this decision were not disclosed.
“With regret, we announce Bittrex Global’s decision to cease operations. This was a difficult decision, and we understand the potential inconvenience to our valued clients,” the company said in its official statement.
As context, in the spring of this year, the American division of the cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex.US filed for bankruptcy. It was the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States at the time. After the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against Bittrex.US and Bittrex Global, accusing them of selling securities without proper permits, Bittrex.US was forced to cease operations and pay a $24 million fine.
