UN Issues Preliminary Report on Strengthening its Role in Global Tax Rule Establishment

On Tuesday, August 8th, the United Nations released a preliminary report regarding the enhancement of its role in setting and shaping global taxation regulations. This report was prepared following the approval and adoption of a resolution project by several African countries at the end of 2022. The official version of the report is expected to be published in late August or early September.

The United Nations is proposing to proceed with one of three approaches: (1) Multilateral Tax Convention; (2) Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation; (3) Framework Procedure for International Tax Cooperation.
